Frederik Van Lierde's Cervelo P5

At the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt, Germany we noticed the green custom painted Cervelo P5 of 2013 IM Kona champion Frederik Van Lierde. A bike loaded with Shimano Di2 components, Rotor cranks and power meter, Mavic wheels, CeramicSpeed upgrades and more.

Van Lierde's distinctive 54cm Cervelo P5 awaits race day in transition.

The winning 2013 Ironman World Championships time is noted on the top tube.

An XLab Stealth Pocket 300 sits behind the stem, and the pilot added a Garmin mount to the top of the stem.

Frederik Van Lierde was one of the first pros to try out the new Prologo TGale saddles. Behind that saddle is an XLab Gorilla XT cage secured by an XLab Delta 400.

Frederik Van Lierde rode a Rotor QXL 56 tooth big ring with a 41 tooth inner on the 175mm Rotor cranks with power.

Power on both sides for the 2013 Ironman World Champion, plus a CeramicSpeed BB.

Inside the forks of his Cervelo P5 are the names of his sons Simon and Aaron.

An XLab aero cage on the downtube awaits the matching bottle.

CeramicSpeed pulleys have replaced the stock Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 ones, plus a CeramicSpeed UFO (ultimate friction optimized) chain is in place.

Van Lierde prefers completely flat extensions over ski bends and other bends.

The XLab Gorilla XT BTA cage mounts directly onto the 3T Aduro stem. The purpose of that CompressSport band there is not known to us.

Complete electronic shifting control from Shimano.

And of course hydraulic braking from the German Magura Meisters.

Frederik Van Lierde rode new 25mm Mavic tubular tires.

The shallow front wheel was chosen for the weight and also for matching so nicely with the 25mm tubular from Mavic.
