The 24th edition of IRONMAN Lake Placid saw Joe Skipper and Alice Alberts take victory, along with strong performances from numerous other professionals in the field. Here's a few of the images we captured throughout the day.
Matt Hanson was mentally preparing himself for a long day at the office.
Rach McBride took their time looking over the entirety of their Speed Concept before heading to Mirror Lake.
Air temperatures were about 15 degrees lower than water temperatures yesterday. Cody Beals came prepared after a swim warm-up.
The cannon sounded, and the frenzy began.
The women's field prepping for their start, two minutes after the men's field launched.
Josh Amberger led the swim, being the only male professional to swim under 50 minutes on the day.
An all-Canadian exit from transition, around three minutes back from Amberger.
A view of Joe Skipper's unique bottle set-up.
Another view of Skipper's cockpit, and the two bottles here. Skipper would also add a hydration bladder to the front of his jersey.
McBride, meanwhile, led out of the water. No woman pro swam under an hour here, as they fought through the wetsuit-wearing age group field on the second loop of the swim.
Fact check: true.
Skipper jumped into the lead on the bike, eventually building a nearly two minute cushion on Amberger into T2.
And onto the run for Skipper.
Hanson taking full flight on the run.
Alberts had taken the lead midway through the bike and never let it go.
Angela Naeth had moved herself up onto the podium during the bike. She fought valiantly but wound up fourth.
All about the family for Ben Hoffman at the end.
Hanson had fought hard to try to close up to Skipper and Hoffman, but settled for third.
Nothing sweeter than a maiden victory.
