Following this weekend's tragic events in Hamburg, it was obvious what we would need to discuss on this week's installment of the Slowtwitch Podcast.

Our planned guest for the week (I know, we said we wouldn't have a lot of guests, and now we're having guests every episode) was Ben Kanute. We recorded our episode with Ben midday Tuesday. In it you'll find Ben's, Eric's, and my collective experiences and opinions on media coverage and what we, collectively, can learn from Hamburg. We then pivoted to talk about Ben's upcoming race at Challenge Roth, his training, and incredible ability to stay focused.

Shortly after we finished recording, we were given the opportunity to talk with IRONMAN CEO Andrew Messick. We went deeper into Hamburg; what IRONMAN's procedures are for critical incidents and their communications protocols, for example. And with takeaways as to what IRONMAN is reviewing and potentially changing for the future.
