This week, TrainerRoad added some key updates to it’s iOS app. Two of the key updates are in-app training plans and power-match.
Prior to these updates, users would need to use the desktop version to find the appropriate workout when following a structured training plan and then search the mobile app for the workout. Now, users can find and select the appropriate training plan, week, and workout.
The addition of power-match allows users with a power meter and smart trainer to have their power meter control the resistance of the smart trainer. Prior to this update, users often complained of a variance of +/- 20 Watts which great affected the quality of the TrainerRoad workouts. Both of these updates put the mobile app more in-line with the desktop version.
TrainerRoad also improved its search and filter capabilities, interval analysis, and Tacx support (using Ant’s FE-C protocol).
In the future, TrainerRoad will be focusing on video capabilities within the iOS app and updating the codebase for the desktop version. There were no updates for Android users.
TrainerRoad indicates it may have some surprises for Triathletes using TrainerRoad in the coming months.
